Figured I may as well jump the bandwagon and share my views on the matter. Although it’s probably obvious as to what those views may be.

I’m just completely disappointed in this country. Needless to say, I never really liked America. The novelty of the whole “land of the free” wears off once you’ve actually lived here for a while. Now, I realise there are plenty of people who adore America, and I understand that to an extent. You’re either extremely nationalist, or you just hate the damn place.
That being said, I don’t understand why anyone would be happy with this current situation.
America is supposed to be this place people love and want to come to because of all of freedoms. We’re free of censorship (to an extent), freedom of speech; religion; press; etc.
Taking our free information away from us, taking away sites that are used every second of the day, is ridiculous. All it is, is copyright people freaking out and being greedy. I realise times are hard and we have to do what we have to do to survive, but are a few dollars really worth all this trouble? The internet is a huge resource, and for some, it’s even an escape from the hardships of reality. It’s even where people make their living!
I know this is cliche, but I’m going back to this as many do. What’s more important: censoring the internet to save already very wealthy people some money, or serving justice to that child’s parents who lost there child due to murder or a kidnapping?
America, along with the rest of this world really needs to get their priorities in order.
Now, to clear up some rumours about said legislation/s.
People are talking about Facebook and Twitter being blocked, but that most likely will not happen. Facebook and Twitter aren’t really infringing on any copyright matters. The websites that will be blocked are the sharing websites such as Wikipedia, Tumblr, Youtube, Reddit, etc.
Basically a huge portion of the internet.
Also, I was informed that SOPA and PIPA will not be affecting other countries. America, though, is trying to enforce our stupid ideas on other places to try and get them to accept the bills and enforce them in their own countries.
Furthermore, I’d just like to say that I saw once of the most spectacular things I have seen in ages. The internet striking back. It was amazing to see a bunch of people and websites gathering together and going on ‘strike.’ It was brilliant. Together, we can make a difference. We can do what we can to get congress to say ‘no’ on SOPA/PIPA. Things like going on strike like that can really work.
I suffice to say that I will be, indeed, moving out of this damn country if this passes. Not only because it’s infringing upon MY rights as an America citizen, and because once something like this happens, it’s a domino effect.
I just retweeted an “anti-religious slur” on Twitter. Oh no.
But I’m seriously having fun retweeting all the “factswithoutwikipedia” shit. It’s quite entertaining.
The American government is stupid, and I want to get out of here.
IF TUMBLR GETS TAKEN AWAY FROM ME, SOMEONE’S GOING TO PAY.
SCROLLIN’ IN THE DEEEEEEEEEEEEP.
